The Tokaji Aszù 5 puttonyos is THE great wine of Tokaj, the wine that has been historically in the center of all discussions, negociations and tables of kings, tsars and popes. It’s the wine that reveals, as a Grand Cru, the tremendous potential of the Aszù grapes.
« Puttonyos » means « sack » or « basket » in Hungarian. The number of baskets determins the sugar contain of the wine. To be a 5 puttonyos, the wine has to contain minimum 120 gr of residual sugar.
The Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos Samuel Tinon 2001 received the Grand Prix at the Grand Tasting from Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve November 23rd 2006 in Paris (Carrousel du Louvre).
