It is encouraging to see increasing interest in the sweet wines which made the region so famous. The Szepsy Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos 2011 went for a record 38 710 Euros, that is over 140 Euros a 0.5 l bottle. The London-based Top Selection Ltd already has buyers for the 270 bottles from Sweden to Hong Kong. Exciting bidding took the 2013 Aszú collection (commercially unavailable) by up-and-coming young winemakers Tokaj Generation Y up by a quarter. Dry wines also show a marked increase on estimates and starting prices. Good examples which were sold at significant increases are Kikelet’s Váti-dűlő Hárslevelű 2016, Samuel Tinon’s Szent Tamás Furmint 2016, Szent Benedek Birtokbor 2006 and Tokaj Hétszőlő Hárslevelű 2016.

Furmint Szent Tamás Samuel Tinon 2016

The ever first wine who was presented at the very first auction in 2013 was a Dry Furmint Szent Tamás 2012 – a Historical Wine ! Year after year, we continue our experience in expressing the Grand Cru Szent Tamás. This Dry Furmint is a photograph of Tokaj’s most famous terroir. The winemaking is “rapid” and allows the winemaker to catch the character of this very specific plot in another vintage.
2016 was a tricky vintage but we succeeded in harvesting beautiful grapes without botrytis in September and at the biginning of October. The grapes are pressed directly then the juice goes into wooden barrels from the Zemplén to be fermented. This is a typical Szent Tamás Furmint with its recognizable citrus aromas. The Furmint Szent Tamás 2016 vintage will be presented once again in a 136 litre barrel, that is 180 bottles of 75 cl. Other Crus representing the entire region are for sale (minimum 12 bottles). Anyone interested can contact Samuel Tinon.

Tokaji Aszú Esszencia Samuel Tinon 2003

2003 was a hot and « easy » vintage with beautiful weather during the harvest. The maturities were very good, giving enough sugar and acidity to balance the wines. It was such a wonderful year ! There was so much juice and sugar that we could gather some Esszencia 2003 ! Exceptionally sold at the Auction this year.
We decided to divide the lot of 144 bottles of 50 cl into 3 lots, each of them giving 48 bottles.
We would like to grant 10 % of the sum of each lot to three different causes.
1/ Olaszliszkai Kerekerdő Óvoda (Olaszliszka’s kindergarten)
2/ Olaszliszkai Hegyalja Általános Iskola (Olaszliszka’s primary school)
3/ Augustin Tinon’s stay in China with the AFS / School year 2017-2018
All three lot buyers will also have the privilege to taste a vertical of Esszencia from 2000 until 2008. Valid until the end of 2017.
